I am in favour ‘transformation’ – striving to become what you already are in Christ Jesus; striving to live a meaningful life and in so doing contributing meaningfully to make this world a better place; not only better for yourself, but for everybody.
I am in favour of empowerment, especially the kind of empowerment that comes from ‘within’, the kind of empowerment that is the result of ‘Christ in you, the hope of glory’, the type of empowerment which is available to each and every person on the face of the earth, regardless of social standing, race, history, education, poor record – regardless of what people say or think about you, regardless of what is predicted about you, your future or the future of South Africa. Nothing, yes, NOTHING and NOBODY can prevent you from accessing the abundant riches of the kingdom of heaven – even during this life.
You can only deny it to yourself, by turning down God’s riches, freely made available to all who believe in Christ and take God at his word.
I am in favour of the empowerment of all South Africans; I am against Black Economic Empowerment (I am talking about the statutory artificial type of race based ’empowerment’, which is currently forced upon South Africa, simply because it is unsustainable, because it brings about no progress and benefits nobody, although those currently benefitting through it might think so. They will however soon realise that they – and, unfortunately, their children who grew up in that unrealistic environment, briefly enjoying the protection of materialistic structures built on sand – will be the ones most severely prejudiced by it.
To those who might feel discouraged by the obstacles posed by the BBBEE rules imposed on them, who feels disgruntled for being denied access to the streams of easy money, take heart: just go ahead, don’t fear; just do your thing the best you can; don’t quit. Above all, seek God with all your heart and … just believe.
