DEADLOCK IN INDUSTRY NEGOTIATIONS
Dear NEASA member
On Thursday, 29 May 2014, the current Metal and Engineering Industry main agreement negotiations ended in a deadlock.
On Friday, 30 May 2014, all the party trade unions declared disputes against the employers and NEASA in turn declared a dispute against the unions.
In the unlikely event that an agreement is reached between the parties, an Industry strike will probably take place from the beginning of July '14.
Negotiations will however continue during the month of June in an attempt to resolve the impasse.
Later this month we will visit your region with a view to brief you on developments in the negotiations as well as to assist you in your preparation for the potential upcoming strike.
In the meantime we urge you to do everything possible to prepare for a strike and to, as much as possible, involve your clients and suppliers in the process.
We wish all the best
