LABOUR COURT LITIGATION UPDATE
Dear Steel Industry employer
In our previous communique, we indicated that the review application to set aside the decision of the MEIBC to request the Minister of Labour to extend the Administration – and Main Agreement to non-parties was removed from the Labour Court roll.
This was due to the fact that the Department of Labour (DOL) returned both agreements to the MEIBC due to a number of substantive issues contained therein.
Subsequent to this, the Administrator of the MEIBC, on his own accord, resubmitted the Administration Agreement to the DOL for extension.
As a consequence, the review application (in respect of the Administration Agreement only) has been re-enrolled to be heard on 28 November 2018.
The Main Agreement has not, as yet, been resubmitted.
We will keep you abreast of developments in this regard.
