Dear Steel Industry employer

What follows is another letter by a Steel Industry employer to the Minister of Employment and Labour.

Letter by employer:

I do not understand the argument to extend the agreement to all parties for equal competition.

XXXXXXXXXX exports 98% of its production overseas. Our cost of labour under the new main agreement will give a cost of labour of 5 USD. Our main competitors in India pay 3 USD a day. India has half our electricity cost and steel is 15% cheaper. The transport to Durban from Johannesburg is now more expensive due to railway problems. Our ports are a further problem.

One can advance technology only up to a point. XXXXXXXX is operating at the SAEFA rates average of 2 USD per hour.

Please do not kill my company and the jobs of my beautiful workers. The country needs to rebuild our industrial capacity and export our products.
