COIDA: Further non-payment by the Compensation Fund
Compensation Fund Failures
INJURED WORKERS LEFT WITHOUT TREATMENT
(DUE TO NON-PAYMENTS TO MEDICAL SERVICE PROVIDERS)
Dear NEASA reader
NEASA has recently been made aware of multitudes of Medical Service Providers (MSPs) not receiving payment for services rendered to patients covered by the Compensation Fund for work-related injuries and occupational diseases.
This is placing a significant financial burden on the entire COID value chain, including employees, employers, third-party administrators, and MSPs.
Despite the Compensation Fund administration nonsensically citing the problem as being with Treasury, no technical details or estimated resolution time have been communicated by the Fund.
In response to this, NEASA conducted a survey among various MSPs to assess the impact of this challenge on them. 58% of MSPs indicated that they will stop rendering services to injury-on-duty (IOD) patients due to the non-payment by the Fund.
We are deeply concerned about the disastrous impact this will have on injured workers who rely on these services to recover and return to work and want to ensure that the Compensation Fund takes immediate action in addressing this issue by ensuring that MSPs are paid for their services.
Consequently, NEASA once again requests all stakeholders, including employers, employees, third-party administrators and MSPs to participate by clicking here.
