COSATU concerned about NEASA case
Dear NEASA member
NEASA's WIN IN COURT ….
Last week the Labour Court in Johannesburg granted interim relief following an urgent application by NEASA to prevent the Metal and Engineering Bargaining Council (MEIBC) from requesting the Minister of Labour to extend the July 2014 Industry Agreement between the federation Seifsa and trade unions, to parties/employers who were not party to that Agreement.
…. HAS COSATU VERY WORRIED
The Court's ruling seemingly ruffled feathers within COSATU’s ranks, prompting it to issue a press statement to the effect that should NEASA succeed in this case, that it's impact will be far reaching.

THEY DON'T UNDERSTAND THE ISSUES, BUT THREATEN MASS-ACTION ….
COSATU clearly does not have a clear understanding of the issues which will be argued before the Labour Court on 4 November 2014. What is clear however, is that they are worried; and since their arguments have dried up, they threaten to 'fight these anti-worker, anti-human rights attacks until the bitter end, legally, organisationally and specifically in the streets and in the workplaces'.
…. BECAUSE THEY ARE IDEOLOGICALLY BANKRUPT
What worries me is that COSATU does not take the time to address the fundamental issues which have caused the demise of, not only the Metal Industry, but the economy as a whole. The COSATU contribution in the economy is increased unemployment, deterioration of education, municipal services and infrastructure. Their spontaneous response again is a no-brainer – turn to the 'streets'; mass-action instead of reason; anarchy instead of debate – the tyranny of numbers.
Kind regards
