AMENDED REGULATIONS
Dear employer
Last night, the President announced new regulations pertaining to the Alert Level 1 lockdown.
As of midnight, on 14 December 2020, the following additional regulations will be applicable:
• the Garden Route and Sarah Baartman municipalities have been added to the hotspot area list which already included Nelson Mandela Bay municipality;
• beaches in the Eastern Cape as well as along the Garden Route will be closed from 16 December 2020 to 3 January 2021;
• beaches in Kwazulu-Natal will be closed on 16, 25 and 26 December as well as 1 to 3 January 2021;
• beaches that remain open may only be visited between 09:00 and 18:00;
• retailers may only sell alcohol from Mondays to Thursdays from 10:00 to 18:00 but wine farms may continue to offer tastings over weekends;
• alcohol may not be consumed in public places except on licensed premises;
• the curfew has been extended to between 23:00 and 04:00;
• restaurants and bars are to close at 22:00;
• gatherings are limited to 100 people for indoor events and 250 people for outdoor events;
• the total number of people inside a building may not exceed 50% of the capacity of the building; and
• all post-funeral gatherings are prohibited.
Please note that all previous regulations in relation to occupational health and safety and social distancing remain intact.
