COVID-19: Clothing Manufacturing Industry - Extension of Collective Agreement
… navigating through the COVID-19 LOCKDOWN scandal …
CLOTHING MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY
EXTENSION OF COLLECTIVE AGREEMENT
Dear Clothing Industry employer
The Minister of Employment and Labour has extended an amended collective agreement for the Clothing Manufacturing Industry, in terms of the TERS regulations, to non-parties.
An agreement for this Industry had already been gazetted on 25 March 2020, which compelled all employers in the sector to apply for TERS benefits through the Council and to make certain payments to employees as assistance during the lockdown.
The only significant amendment to this amended agreement is that all employers, who have not yet done so, in terms of the previous agreement, must pay 2 weeks’ salaries to employees as Covid-19 relief payments.
Employers in the sector must continue to apply for TERS benefits through the bargaining council.
