STATE OF DISASTER EXTENDED
REGULATIONS RELAXED
Dear employer
Last night, the President announced that the National State of Disaster will be extended for a further month until 15 December 2020.
- However, some of the remaining regulations on economic activity and travel have been relaxed, effective from 12 November 2020:
- the offsite sale of alcohol is now permitted during normal trading hours, subject to the laws governing such liquor licence;
- onsite sale of alcohol remains subject to the curfew;
- international travel for leisure to and from all countries are permitted, subject to the traveller providing a negative Covid-19 test result not older than 72 hours prior to the date of travel;
- all commercial seaports will be open, the 18 land borders that were partially operational are now fully operational but, the 34 land borders that were closed remain closed; and
- international cruise liners will still not be permitted into South African ports but small crafts will be permitted.
The UIF TERS benefit has been extended for a further month to 15 October 2020, it has not yet been determined as to when applications for the period of 16 September to 15 October will open.
We will keep members abreast of developments.
