ADMINISTRATION AGREEMENT EXPIRES

Dear Industry employer

The Administration and Expenses Agreement of the Metal and Engineering Industries Bargaining Council (MEIBC) expires today.

The effect of this is that the Administration and Dispute Levies are, with effect from today, no longer payable by employers or employees and any deduction made from employees’ wages for admin-and dispute levies will be unlawful.

The Minister of Employment and Labour was requested by NUMSA, on 02 October 2020, to again renew the extension of the 2011 MEIBC Administration and Expenses agreement in terms of the amended Labour Relations Act.

This request has, to date, not been adhered to and was only published for public comment on 27 October 2020.

NEASA will keep employers abreast of developments in this regard.
