MIBCO: 2016 Wage Negotiations - No Agreement Reached
MIBCO
WAGE NEGOTIATIONS
NO AGREEMENT HAS BEEN REACHED
Dear Industry Employer
A bilateral mediation meeting between NEASA, the RMI and NUMSA took place on Wednesday 13 October 2016, under the auspices of the CCMA. The negotiations centered around wages with employers tabling an offer of an increase of 7% in the first year, 7% in the second year and 7% in the third year. NUMSA demands an increase of 9% in the first year, 8% in the second year and 8% in the third year.
As the parties could not reach an agreement or move closer to one another, the arbitrator issued a certificate which entitles NUMSA to call a strike after giving employers 48 hours notice of their intention to do so. However, the parties have remained committed to resolve their dispute.
The future is unpredictable but employers must be aware that a strike is a possibility. You will be kept informed of any future developments.
Sincerely
Gerald Leith
