POPIA: Registration of Information Officers: Technical Challenges.

The registration of Information Officers with the Information Regulator in terms of POPIA commenced on 1 May 2021.

Not unpredictably, the mailbox of the Information Regulator was reported to be full on 3 May 2021 and incapable of receiving any further registrations via e-mail. The online registration portal is reported, by the Regulator, to be experiencing technical difficulties and therefore registration of Information Officers can only be performed by post or hand delivery, for the time being.
 
All institutions subject to the POPIA Act are advised to send their Information Officer registration forms, together with the authorisation and delegation forms for Deputy Information Officers, where applicable, via post to the designated postal address, as per the regulations:
