INDUSTRY ALERT!!

SEIFSA turns against SMME's in the Metal Industry

Dear Metal Industry business owner/leader

What I say here is a matter of life and death for each and every business owner/role player in the Metal Industry.

SEIFSA TURNS AGAINST BUSINESS IN THE METAL INDUSTRY

At a MEIBC management meeting on Friday, 15 August 2014, three SEIFSA affiliated organisations on the MEIBC, notwithstanding being a minority of employers at that meeting, voted with NUMSA and other unions to make the business-hostile July '14 agreement between SEIFSA/NUMSA and other unions applicable to other parties on the Council. JUST STAND STILL FOR A MOMENT AND CONSIDER THIS: with a minority employer vote, SEIFSA-affiliated organisations, but with the help of NUMSA and other trade unions, attempted to make the SEIFSA/NUMSA diabolical July '14 agreement applicable to other parties in the MEIBC. They will now attempt to extend this to the whole of the Industry.

Yes, it is the same agreement that SEIFSA 'reluctantly' agreed to, the agreement which, according to SEIFSA, will lead to 'massive job losses'. You're right, SEIFSA wants to apply an agreement they don't want, but which they agreed to in utter weakness, in an act of submission to NUMSA, to other organisations and employers in the Metal Industry.

A RIDICULOUS ARRANGEMENT; AN ACT OF HOSTILITY AGAINST SMME's

Just think of this: a minority employer group conspires with the socialist NUMSA to bind other employers into a deal nobody, not even SEIFSA itself, can afford. This is immoral, unethical and evil. If I were allowed to use stronger words, I would have.

SUPPORT FOR SEIFSA AMOUNTS TO SUPPORT FOR NUMSA

Parties serving on the MEIBC, doing their utmost to promote the interest of business in the MEIBC, will lose each and every vote as long as SEIFSA throws in its support with NUMSA.

WHAT WILL NEASA DO?

NEASA will respond appropriately on each and every one of these challenges. In the days, weeks and months ahead we will brief you on all developments and all action taken to protect the Industry against the SEIFSA/NUMSA pact.

WHAT CAN YOU DO?

Employers not already members of NEASA, can no longer afford to sit on the fence. We need your support.

Supporters of SEIFSA need to reconsider their support of SEIFSA, which is an indirect support of NUMSA. We request the following from you:-

don't renew your membership with SEIFSA;

resign from SEIFSA. You can no longer afford that your support of SEIFSA is used in the suppression of the Industry.

SEIFSA needs to be starved of support. Their arrogance of extending their agreements, whilst they only have 15% of employers (at most) in the Industry as members, needs to be appropriately dealt with by employers.

TIME TO ACT

All employers in the Industry, everyone in his/her unique manner, must get involved in the fight for the survival and prosperity of this Industry. Apathy over years has put SEIFSA in the position to do to the Industry what they just did.

All the best

Gerhard Papenfus

Above all, we must realise that no arsenal, or no weapon in the arsenals of the world, is so formidable as the will and moral courage of free men and women. It is a weapon our adversaries in today's world do not have.
