STEEL INDUSTRY: AMSA's Intended Closure of Their Long Steel Business: Urgent request for rebate provisions.
STEEL INDUSTRY
AMSA’s INTENDED CLOSURE OF THEIR LONG STEEL BUSINESS
URGENT REQUEST FOR REBATE PROVISIONS
Dear Steel Industry employer
AMSA’s intended closure of its long steel production in Newcastle, Vereeniging and at its AMRAS operations directly impacts the future local availability of long steel products.
The remaining local producers of long steel products are unlikely to provide the range and volume produced by AMSA, leaving various industry sectors facing severe disruption.
ITAC acknowledges the need for rebate provisions to be created, even the need for ITAC to self-initiate the required tariff investigations in the interest of time. However, ITAC does not seem to fully grasp the urgency of commencing the process to avoid severe disruptions and therefore its self-initiated application needs to be expedited.
Industry needs to file an urgent request to ITAC to immediately self-initiate an investigation, on an expedited basis, with maximum support from users of long steel products, by filing a brief but detailed submission motivating the creation of the necessary rebate provisions.
You are invited to join XA Global Trade Advisors for a free online webinar to discuss this call to action for Steel Industry businesses:
