STEEL INDUSTRY: The effect of the toxic combination of IMPORT DUTIES and AMSA'S INABILITY TO SUPPLY
The effect of the toxic combination of
IMPORT DUTIES
and
AMSA’s INABILITY TO SUPPLY
More business responses
- We are a steel retailer mainly in the borehole casing industry supplying the borehole drillers with casing. We have had no 177 OD casing since the lifting of hard lockdown (approximately three months ago). Our drillers have been unable to drill and in turn, people cannot be supplied with water in the rural areas.
This is our main line of steel and without it, we will close our doors and send our staff home.
Well done to all involved in creating this disaster after a long lockdown !!!
- Prices rise and often there is a supply shortage. The AMSA duties need to be lifted… if they can’t make it in an open market then they shouldn’t be in business, specifically if affects the entire country’s industry.
- This seriously impacts my business, my son’s business and my son-in-law’s business. It impacts clients that owe us money. It is a vicious circle. Barely coming out of Covid, I am thinking about closing the doors and let the law takes it’s course. There will be no money for severance packages. There is just no way I can raise sufficient funds for year-end shutdown expenses and no bonuses.
How is AMSA’s inability to supply the market affecting your business?
