ARTISAN RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING
INVITATION
Dear employer
NEASA Youth Development Program invites employers to participate in Artisan Recognition of Prior Learning (ARPL) for their employees who need to qualify in the following trades:
- ELECTRICIAN – Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal
- MECHANICAL FITTER – Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal
- WELDING – Gauteng
- BOILERMAKING – Gauteng
NEASA employers can benefit from funding being made available by the Manufacturing, Engineering and Related Services Sector Education and Training Authority (merSETA) to train experienced, but unqualified employees, to full artisan status through this ARPL project.
Training and trade test costs are covered by the grant.
Minimum requirements
- funding only available for employed learners;
- at least 3 years working experience in one of the above-mentioned trades;
- grade 9;
- must be able to read and write in English;
- must provide an updated CV; and
- over 18 years of age.
- gap training – 2 weeks to 4 weeks (subject to the outcome of the two days ARPL assessment);
- four weeks for trade test preparation; and
- two days of trade test.
