METAL INDUSTRY ALERT
NOTICE OF STRIKE AND LOCK OUT
Dear NEASA member
The Metal and Engineering Industries wage negotiations reached a deadlock on the 29thof May 2014.
During the month of June 2014 the parties attempted to resolve the dispute but unfortunately were unable to reach an agreement. All the Union parties, with the exception of Solidarity, served notice on the Council that they will be embarking on protected strike action as of the 1st of July 2014.
NEASA consequently served a notice of lock out on the council effectively locking out all employees participating in the strike action, effective from the time and date of commencement of the strike. Click here to see the notice.
Please note that the lock out does not include Solidarity as they indicated that Solidarity members will not be participating in the strike. We advise employers that employees who report for duty should be allowed to work. Should a situation arise where non striking employees are prevented from reporting alternative arrangements should be implemented.
Members can contact out hotline on 0860 163 272 or their regional office for assistance in this regard.
