Over and above of being bombarded with bad news, people are actually being attracted to bad news. People buy newspapers in order to come up to date with the latest bad news.

Every area of our existence and way of life is threatened – at least that is what we think; and this belief is strengthened by what we hear – read and listen to.

Have you ever thought about the fact that, if everything you worry about and which disturbs your peace, is taken away from you, you will immediately find something else to worry about; you will immediately find something else as a reason not to be happy.

People in countries which do not face the same challenges that we do, aren’t necessarily happier. They have other reasons not to be happy; they worry just as much. This is so because happiness (or rather ‘joy’) is the fruit of a right attitude: faith, hope and love.

The perfect advice is given in Mark 4:24: Consider carefully what you hear. With the measure you use, it will be measured to you – and even more; whoever has will be given more; whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them.’

We can choose what we listen to. What we hear (read, watch and listen to) affects our lives. We respond to what we hear. Negativity, fear and paralysis is a consequence of what we hear; what we listen to. These negative attitudes are by its very nature opportunity destroying.

Refuse to listen to advice which suggests there is no future. Refuse to ‘hear’ that because it is simply not true. Fill your mind with what is uplifting and good – the real reality.

What is presented to us as a dark reality, is actually a huge opportunity for those who ‘hear’ the right message – the true reality.
